This is a grade II listed cottage in North Hayling Island that the customer instructed us to remove all the existing tiles and re-use what was salvageable, including the full replacement of all the existing felt and battens, also we had to use a bat friendly tile felt and introduce bat tiles to allow bats to enter the roof space as part of the Bat Activity Survey Report. We had to obtain over six thousand reclaimed clay peg tiles from a local reclaim yard and blend them back into the roof with the existing removed tiles. A 50mm Celotex insulation board was inserted between the rafters to help reduce heat loss and gain, we were restricted in the thickness of insulation due to grade II listing requirements. New lead flashings and soakers were fitting to the chimneys and dormers.
This work was logged with NFRC to obtain a certificate of building compliance, which was passed on to the customer who was extremely pleased with how the work was carried out and the quality of the finished job.
